Westward expansion spread democracy by there being more states they could see the country’s ideas on government and ideas like slavery and also the government pushed the expansion and John O’Sullivan came up with manifest destiny that it was God’s destiny for us to stretch from sea to sea. They achieved spreading the American ideals westward because they tried to turn Indians into Christians and it spread American ideals to the Indians and other people travelers came in contact with.

It was believed that the Americans, known as the “Chosen People”, had a mission to broaden the roots of there democracy to what they considered less fortunate, which were the Native Americans, and the non-Europeans. Most figures in the spread of democracy were Democrats, but some were Whigs, and later on in the journey, Republicans. The people believed that this was obvious (“manifest”), and certain (“destiny”), which is where the term of “Manifest Destiny” came about.

. Westward Expansion spread democracy by moving most of the Indians to Reservations and opened up more room for immigrants to come in and settle and also learn our culture of democracy. The more immigrants move to America the stronger our country gets.

Americans or "The chosen ones" had a mission to spread democracy to Native Americans and others who were non-European. John O’Sullivan coined the term manifest destiny which means that moving west was obvious and certain. They achieved spreading democracy because there are many more people coming from other countries and other countries converting to democracy.

Most Americans who traveled west were poor or in debt. They wanted to travel west to search for some knowledge, food, and home and some just traveled to stay alive. They wanted to start a new better life
